How Daycares, Summer Camps and Schools Can Become Partners in Prevention

Rhonda Newton is the CEO and Senior Director of Curriculum of Darkness to Light. She brings over a decade of experience as an educator and curriculum specialist and instructional designer at both the K-12 and university level.
Ramon Rosario is an Instructional Designer at Darkness to Light. He holds a masters degree in Learning Design and Technology has experience working in both private and public higher education institutions. He’s also been privileged to work as an elementary school teacher with functionally diverse students! So he has on the ground experience as well.

Stewards of Children® is their flagship program, which teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse who work with children or are safe caregivers. Their trainings are the only evidence-informed, adult-focused child sexual abuse prevention trainings proven to increase knowledge and change behavior and work to empower adults and organizations to bring in child safety to their own communities.
DARKNESS TO LIGHT
The conversation centered on educating and training parents, educators, and other adults to protect children from harm. Rosalia, Rhonda and Ramon emphasized the need for fact-based arguments and trauma-informed training programs to address child sexual abuse, peer-to-peer violence, and trafficking. They highlighted the importance of creating a culture where it's safe to report any suspicious activity or misconduct and empowering individuals to take action to prevent these issues.
